Bank statement balance checker

Use the same currency for every amount, with a decimal point and up to two decimal places. Leave out commas and currency symbols. Include fees in money out.

The balance at the start of the statement period. A negative balance is allowed.
Total deposits and other credits during the period. Enter a positive amount or zero.
Total withdrawals, payments and fees during the period. Enter a positive amount or zero.
The balance printed at the end of the statement period. A negative balance is allowed.

When the numbers disagree

  1. Confirm the opening and closing amounts belong to the same statement period and currency.
  2. Include charges, interest and adjustments in the activity totals. Do not enter withdrawals as negative money out.
  3. Check for omitted pages, duplicated transactions and amounts read from the wrong column.
  4. Compare each questionable row with the original PDF before changing your records.
